Meet Our Educators

 

Kim Manzo

CCE Marine Educator + Marine Meadows Project Manager

Kim has worked for the Habitat Program at CCE Marine for 19 years based out of SCMELC, in Southold, but is the director of the new Seahorse Art + Science Camp at Tiana Bayside! She also started the Seahorse Conservation Initiative, hosting seahorse/eelgrass seining workshops out of Tiana Bayside. Her specialties include restoring marine habitat and seahorse conservation, SCUBA demonstrations, coastal habitat propagation and seaweed pressing. As Manager of the Marine Meadows program, she leads workshops related to eelgrass and coastal habitat propagation in the spring and fall out of both facilities.

Ella Gatfield

Bayside Adventures Program Director + Marine Educator

Ella is our Back to the Bays Educator, overseeing programmatic development and education throughout the East End. Ella holds a degree in environmental policy and journalism, in addition to completing a program in sustainable agriculture. Invested in education, specifically surrounding habitat restoration, Ella develops and teaches marine-based curriculum that welcomes a variety of ages, interests, and skill levels.

Carolyn Munaco

ArtSea Program +
Camp Director

Carolyn has worked for CCE Marine Program since 2013. She is the ArtSea Program Director, Arts & Science Instructor, and Marine Education & Outreach Assistant. As a working local artist, Carolyn’s specialty is art and the creative process influenced by the marine environment. Carolyn directs our unique selection of ArtSea Summer Programs, encouraging youth to express their creative voices, while drawing inspiration from marine habitats.

Kim Barbour

CCE Marine East End Outreach Manager + Back to the Bays Director

Kim serves as Outreach Manager for CCE Marine Program and oversees the overall East End Education and Outreach effort, as well as our stewardship programming, special events and fundraising in support of these great programs. As a Senior Resource Educator, she also takes part in some of the programs offered to students and the community, specifically as they related to the Back to the Bays Initiative.

Donovan Bauman

East End Education and Outreach Assistant

Assistant Educator, Donovan, has been involved in our Education and Outreach efforts since 2022, when he started as a Back to the Bays Intern. His dedication and passion immediately earned him an official position. Acting as both a marine science instructor and a curriculum-developer for our Tiana Bayside programming, Donovan plays a key role in engaging the public in wildlife ecology and habitat conservation, inspiring children and adults alike.
